A.Paint and Body Repair Ltd

Who We Are

Our director and senior technician Ashley is a time served and fully qualified vehicle paint sprayer. Trained within a BMW sponsored apprenticeship and studying at Babcock Training Academy in Milton Keynes. He was awarded qualifications from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), an industry leading award body, in the following:
Level 2 diploma in vehicle accident repair paint competence
Level 2 diploma in vehicle accident repair paint principles
Level 3 diploma in vehicle accident repair paint competence
Level 3 diploma in vehicle accident repair paint principles

Starting his apprenticeship, and career, in August 2015 at Ridgeway paint and body repair centre Newbury Ashley soon found a passion for the art of repairing vehicle bodywork. Working on prestige vehicle brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Maserati, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Jaguar, Land Rover/Range Rover and many more, carrying out repairs from SMART repairs, replacement panels and full vehicle resprays. Following a 3 year apprenticeship at Ridgeway he then moved onto his first senior role at ThinkFord Basingstoke. This was carrying out identical work to Ridgeway. His next role was brief within a mobile SMART repair role. An opportunity arose to join Brick Kiln, a small but prominent paintshop that specialises in Formula 1 motorsport. Here Ashley developed new, and refined existing, techniques for custom and livery painting which led to his work being showcased on arguably one of of the worlds biggest stages – Formula 1 Teams BWT turning to Aston Martin.

In 2021 it was time to start a new venture and A.Paint and Body Repair Ltd was born. Starting off as solely a mobile scratch and dent removal service covering up to 1 hour away from Newbury, Berkshire.

About Our Processes

As time has passed more and more has been invested into the process to ensure that the highest quality of repair is achieved. Using state of the art materials and equipment allows us to provide you with the highest quality at the quickest speed. Materials such as UV primer which can be cured in as little as 1 minute with our TeslaCure UV lamp. Another favourite piece of equipment is our ‘spectrophotometer’. In automotive paint, a spectrophotometer measures colour by analyzing how the paint reflects light across different wavelengths, mimicking how human eyes perceive colour. The instrument emits light onto the painted surface and measures the intensity of light that is reflected back. This reflected light contains information about the paint’s colour, including hue, saturation, and brightness. By comparing this data with Mipa’s (the brand of our paint system) colour database the spectrophotometer quantifies the exact colour of the vehicle’s paint in which is being worked upon and provides a formula calculated in line with the specific vehicle. This allows for the highest possible colour match and therefore quality control in our repairs.
